When we began our research the Kwikset Kevo wasn’t on our short list While the original was a perfectly capable electronic lock its inability to be controlled or monitored remotely was a dealbreaker since it didn’t really function as a connected and therefore “smart” product But the introduction of Kevo Plus an upgrade comprising the Kevo companion app and an Internet gateway completed the product for us While we think its remote capabilities were indeed worth the wait in the end we discovered that the really key feature that cements the Kevo as our top pick is its touch-based trigger mechanism for unlocking and locking a door

The Kevo works a handful of different ways It has a standard keyhole and so you can use it like a regular mechanical lock
